gold by 2hollis

i discovered 2hollis off the praise he recieved for his excellent third album boy, and he’s rapidly become one of my favorite artists working right now. he went on tour recently supporting ken carson, and i see why – he’s operating in a similar lane of highly distorted trap-adjacent music – but he easily blows ken and all the other carti clones out of the water. his vocal performances have a huge amount of emotional expressive range relative to his peers, and his production is way more innovative, blending trap with hardstyle and electroclash to make something totally unique. the main thing i love about him is that rather than solely trying to make the hardest, darkest, coldest beats and performances in the world, he seeks to capture a broader range of often euphoric emotions in his music. gold is no exception to the string of fantastic singles he’s released since before boy, and i’m looking forward to more. also i’m mad that his show in LA sold out within like an hour so i couldn’t get tickets.

re:laced.up and re:burbank.house by tsubi club

tsubi club · re:

in 2021, tsubi club released burbank house, which was pretty much immediately a huge hit in the digicore scene. he then took three years to release his second single, laced up, and it’s great. now, much more quickly, we’ve gotten some pretty great remixes of both singles.

soul kiss by frost children and haru nemuri

a collaboration laser-targeted at me has arrived and it’s really good. haru nemuri’s voice goes really well with frost children’s production style, and the whole thing is this super creative blend of rock and electronic music that sounds like little else.

still rainin by cluli

cluli · S2 E5 still rainin

i made some dariacore in 5/4 a while back for the whole hit em thing and cluli has done it so much better than me it’s embarrassing. thank you dream girl.

sister by venturing

venturing · Sister

new venturing! venturing is a jane remover side project where she pretends to be uploading tracks from an obscure 90s indie band from south dakota. this isn’t my favorite venturing track, but i’m pleased to be getting more anyway.

viscera by nvctve

Nvctve · Viscera EP (Cyclops Recordings)

some fun, super grimy new dubstep. if i had a nickel for every album i posted about on this blog called “viscera” i would have two nickels. which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

telephone by elxnce

elxnce · Telephone (feat. Cece Natalie)

this track was co-produced by elxnce, umru, and jane remover, and i find it really funny how easy it is to tell which parts were done by who. the hook has jane’s fingerprints all over it, and the breakdown at 40 seconds is very obviously an umru joint.

pure white by yandrel + djeb

Yandrel · Yandrel + djeb – pure white

yandrel remains by far my favorite voice in brazilian funk. this track is extremely tame by his standards, and it’s still crazy.
